I'm a long-time resident of Milpitas and am passionate about ensuring we have quality education in our community. Both my son and daughter graduated from MHS and I have been involved in the district since 2002. I have been on the school board, president of various PTAs and school site councils, and district committees. Having come from a single-parent family, I value the power of education, as it has provided me with many opportunities so I can give back to my community. For more details, click here.

Milpitas Unified is a great school district with the potential to become a model across California. With measure AA funds, MUSD's future with its Innovation Campus, a new performing arts theatre, and its World Languages School provides world-class opportunities to its students. For example, our theatre students performed at the American High School Theatre Festival in Edinburg, Scotland.  We are also proud of our award-winning marching band, Robotics team, speech teams, Science Olympiad, and many others. With the right leadership and support, MUSD can continue to provide our students with these opportunities so that they can excel.

Having a strong education system is a cornerstone of a strong, vibrant community. Our diversity offers so many global insights into how we can understand each other better. Within our schools, we can learn to celebrate such diversity and blend that into the community. It is this richness of our varied experiences that can further strengthen who we are.

I'm a strong believer in providing opportunities, especially to those that are in need.  Those opportunities can be life-changing. Helping our students explore possibilities so that they can find their passions, and helping them build pathways to follow them should be a key measure of our success. It will require all of us (students, parents/guardians, teachers/staff, and the community) to synergistically work together.
